Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Madeley School.

It is my pleasure to extend to you a very warm welcome to our Madeley website.

I hope that along with our prospectus it will give you a clear sense of what makes our school special and how we strive to keep our core values at the heart of all we do.

Madeley is a friendly, happy, welcoming community where young people are enabled to make excellent academic progress and develop the knowledge, skills, qualities and values required to lead successful and fulfilling adult lives.

As a relatively small secondary school, we are uniquely placed to care for each child as an individual. Ofsted gave its highest rating to the quality of our care, guidance and support, and commented that we provide an education where " Exemplorary behaviour, fast paced and interesting lessons, outstanding spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, outstanding achievement in Maths, very high quality pastoral support, consistently high quality teaching, with examples of outstanding practice, interesting and engaging activities that motivate students to learn with excellent attitudes to learning" are typical.

Our relentless focus on ensuring the highest academic standards has placed us amongst the top performing schools in the area based on sustained improvement, and our recent examination outcomes place us well above the national averages for student attainment and progress.

In addition to providing the highest quality teaching for successful learning in lessons, we are passionate about providing excellent enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom, so that all of our students have a rewarding and enjoyable time with us as they develop their interests and talents.

A positive growth mindset underpins our approach to developing a learning culture where effort, resilience and learning from our mistakes are seen as the key to unlocking outstanding attainment.

By choosing Madeley you will be joining a group of like-minded young people who appreciate the need to work as part of a team, are supportive and help each other to succeed. You will be supported by a team of highly-skilled and qualified teachers at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, along with a support network of dedicated pastoral and support staff who will collectively strive to bring the best out in you.

Finally, I am excited to inform you that Madeley School has joined the Shaw Education Trust. The Trust bring a belief that all children should have the opportunity to be successful, whatever their starting point. They pledge an unswerving commitment to improve, accelerate and enable ambitious life goals for all young people in their academies.

I look forward to welcoming you to Madeley at some point in the future; and I hope you enjoy browsing our website.
